Invertigo chosen as Western Arts Alliance Launchpad Artists

You are here

We are honored to announce that we have been selected as a 2017 Western Arts Alliance Launchpad Artists!

Launchpad is Western Arts Alliance's (WAA) new start-up program for emerging artists and early career agents or managers. Invertigo will receive a three-year bundle of technical assistance, professional development, mentoring, promotional benefits, and WAA membership.

“A launchpad is a place from which one springs into action. This is a wonderful place to be,” says Invertigo’s Artistic Director Laura Karlin. “I’m excited to work with WAA to elevate Invertigo’s brand of audience engagement and dance programming, and to bring more connection into contemporary dance.”

Launchpad’s goal is to “make it possible for artists to become visible to, and to connect with, the managers and presenters who will book them.” Invertigo is participating alongside two other artists: New Mexico Poet Laureate Hakim Bellamy and the music group Seffarine.

Invertigo’s Executive Director, Tara Aesquivel, says, “It’s an honor for Invertigo to be selected by WAA as a Launchpad artist.  We are very excited to see what kind of opportunities and partnerships might be created through this program.”

Founded in 1967, Western Arts Alliance is a membership association of touring and performing arts professionals engaged in promoting and presenting performing arts throughout the western states. Its mission is to advance excellence in performing arts presenting in the West by connecting and serving members and the field at large. WAA has an annual booking conference and offers year-round programs for artists, artist managers, presenters, and other performing arts professionals in the west.

We are truly honored and excited to be a part of the 2017 Launchpad cohort and look forward to the next 3 years of growth and learning as Launchpad program participants.
