Move, Groove, & Celebrate: Invertigo at National Dance Day 2017

You are here

Saturday, July 29th is National Dance Day, a day for Americans of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to move, groove, and celebrate dance. Never one to miss out on a great party, Invertigo is excited to be part of this special day by participating in the Music Center’s Sixth Annual National Dance Day Celebration!

Established in 2010 by Nigel Lythgoe and the Dizzy Feet Foundation, with the aim of promoting dance education and physical fitness, National Dance Day is a grand celebration of both the artistry and health benefits of dance.

The event in Downtown’s Grand Park is free for all and takes place from 10am to 2pm, with our very own Dancing Through Parkinson’s teachers taking the stage at 10:40am.

Come share the joy of movement and dance with us!

We will give an interactive demonstration of our Dancing Through Parkinson’s (DTP) program, which provides dance classes designed for people living with Parkinson's and other degenerative diseases. Our incredible DTP teachers will lead you through a fun routine that anyone, no matter their age or ability, can do. We’ll be on stage around 10:40am, so be sure to catch us there.

We’ll also be hosting a booth with information about Dancing Through Parkinson’s, along with Mark Morris Dance Group (Dance for PD) and Lineage Dance Company (Dance for Joy).  Please stop by and say hello!

There will be performances by LA dance companies and artists (including DEA Youth Dance Program, GROOV3, and Infinite Flow), short classes and dance tutorials, food and beverages, and lots of fun to be had throughout the day.  Bring your friends, family, and dancing shoes to Grand Park, and celebrate National Dance Day with us!

About National Dance Day
National Dance Day is an annual event for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to move, groove, and celebrate dance.  Established in 2010 by Nigel Lythgoe and the Dizzy Feet Foundation with the aim of promoting dance education and physical fitness, National Dance Day is a grand celebration of both the artistry and health benefits of dance.

Starting in 2010 in the flagship Grand Park location, National Dance Day has grown and is being celebrated in over 75 different locations nationwide.  Free to the public, these events encourage individuals to incorporate dance into their lives by showcasing performances from local artists and short and accessible dance tutorials.

To further promote community and dance engagement, Dizzy Feet Foundation provides an online instructional video for an annual Dance Day Routine so that individuals all across the nation can dance together.  If you’d like to learn the routine or learn more about the event, check out the Dizzy Feet Foundation website here: http://dizzyfeetfoundation.org/national-dance-day/.
